Nepal ended their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup campaign without a single win after losing to Bangladesh by 21 runs on Monday at the Arnos Vale Ground in St. Vincent. Bangladesh defended the lowest target in tournament history, winning three out of their four matches to move on to the next stage.

Nepal, after winning the toss, had chosen to field first. Nepali bowlers did a phenomenal job, restricting Bangladesh to just 106 runs. The wickets started falling from the first ball of the innings when Bangladesh’s opener, Tanzid Hasan, was caught and bowled by Sompal Kami.
Shakib Al Hasan was the top scorer for Bangladesh, making 17 runs from 22 balls with two boundaries.
For Nepal, Sandeep Lamichhane took two wickets, becoming the second-fastest bowler in the world to reach 100 T20 international wickets. Rohit Kumar Paudel, Sompal Kami, and Dipendra Singh Airee also took two wickets each.
Chasing 107 runs, Nepal batters struggled against Bangladesh’s medium pacers, Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Mustafizur Rahman, who were the stars of the match. They took seven wickets together, giving away just 14 runs with three maiden overs.
Dipendra Singh Airee (25) and Kushal Malla (27) tried to save Nepal with a 52-run partnership after they were struggling at 26/5, but it was not enough for Nepal to cross the line.
Shakib Al Hasan took two wickets in the first two balls of the final over, bowling out Nepal for 85 runs. Nepal needed 22 runs in the last over, but Mustafizur Rahman’s wicket-maiden 19th over had already made it very difficult for them.
