Indu guides Nepal to convincing win

Nepal collected a convincing eight-wicket win over Hong Kong in their opening match of ACC Women’s Premier Cup 2024 at Selangor Turf Club on Saturday.

Electing to field first, Nepal restricted Hong Kong, China on 93 runs from 20 overs, picking up 8 wickets. Later, Nepal chased down the minnow target, losing two wickets with 35 balls remaining.

Skipper Chan Ka Ying Kary top-scored for Hong Kong with 21 runs from 31 deliveries, which included 3 boundaries. Similarly, Maryam Bibi (19), Yasmin Daswani (15), and Natasha Miles (11) contributed to Hong Kong Women’s total.

Puja Mahato picked up 2 wickets, giving away 19 runs from her 4 overs. Similarly, Rubina Chettri ended her four overs spell with figures of 2/15.

Chasing the target, captain Indu Barma top-scored with 40 runs from 33 deliveries, with good support from Sita Rana Magar, who scored 36 from 38 deliveries. Indu smashed 3 boundaries and a six to her name. Similarly, Sita Rana Magar’s innings included a boundary and as many six. These two batters managed a 76-run partnership for the second wicket.

For Hong Kong Women’s, Iqra Sahar and Chan Ka Man Betty picked up a wicket each.
