Sagar powers Police to their fifth win

Sagar Dhakal claimed a fifer to hand Nepal Police Club’s fifth consecutive win of the Prime Minister Cup National Cricket Tournament 2080 on Wednesday at Mulpani Cricket Ground. They defeated Madhesh Province by six-wicket.

After electing to field first, the Police restricted Madhesh to a meager 96 runs in 24 overs. They took 18.3 overs to chase down the target, losing four wickets.

Sagar returned the figure of 5-41 in nine overs. He sent back Anil Kumar Sah (01), Mayan Yadav (05), Arniko Yadav (23), Pradip Paswan (01) and Rupesh Singh (05). His spinning counterpart, Lalit Rajbanshi, accounted for four wickets, leaking only 12 runs in five overs including two maidens.

For Madhesh, Arniko Yadav top-scored with 23 off 26 balls, whilst skipper Harishankar Sah made 22 off 33 balls.

Opening batsman, Sunil Dhamala, slammed three fours and two sixes for his 27-ball 26. Kushal Bhurtel’s 19 off 23 balls was the second-highest individual score for the Policemen.

Ranjit Kumar (2-27) and Arniko Yadav (2-21) picked up two wickets apiece for the losing side.
