Surya bags hat-trick as Madhesh falter against Bagmati

Bagmati Province defeated Madhesh Province by 86 runs in a low-scoring encounter to register their second victory in the Prime Minister Cup National Cricket Tournament on Tuesday at the Mulpani Cricket Grounds.

After winning the toss, Madhesh did well with the ball restricting Bagmati to a paltry 190 in 49.2 overs. Left arm spinner Surya Tamang then ran riot picking up six-wickets including a hat-trick as Madhesh innings came crashing at 104 in just 29 overs.

Pawan Sarraf, who notched up a half-century in the previous match, resisted for a while with a 48-ball 45. His innings included four boundaries and two sixes.

Mayan Yadav (31) and Niraj Yadav (15 not out) were the other two notable contributors in Madhesh scorecard that had eight batsmen failing to reach double digits .

Surya took four wickets, including a hat-trick, in his 9th over to return the excellent bowling figures of 6-18. Pratish GC (2-10) and Ishan Pandey (2-24) did the rest with the ball for Bagmati.

Earlier, the collective bowling effort helped Madhesh in restricting Bagmati to a mediocre total. Rupesh Singh (2-23) and Arniko Yadav (2-29) share four wickets between them for Madhesh.

Pratish, who batted at No. 9, top-scored for Bagmati with a 55-ball 59 that included four fours and as many sixes.
