Injured Lalit gets financial support from UK

The UK Nepali XI and other clubs from UK have supported injured national team left arm medium pacer Lalit Singh Bhandari with cash.

Nepal skipper Gyanendra Malla and former captain Paras Khadka handed over Rs 222,242 to Lalit on Friday. Lalit was seriously injured in a terrible motorcycle accident threatening his career.

Lalit and his pillion riding brother were hit by a truck at Jhalari Bazaar in his home town Kanchanpur last September. In a long ordeal for cricket fraternity, everything was done for Lalit.

He was rushed to Nisarg Hospital in Dhangadhi promptly, the same night he was on three and a half hour ride to Kohalpur Hospital and the other day was airlifted to Kathmandu, making sure he gets the best available treatment.

With his wounds still taking time to heal, Lalit now face a one-year of rehabilitation, a period which will determine his return to cricket. The doctors involved in his treatment at Kathmandu’s Grande Hospital have said he can make a comeback but hard work would be needed.

An effective medium pacer, Lalit has played his part returning the figures of 2-43 in Nepal’s historical One Day International victory in Netherlands against the hosts in August, 2018. It was also Lalit’s debut ODI after he had earned his spot following years of hard work.

The 28-year old is an asset for any team he features for in domestic tournament and franchise Twenty20 competition. It was only due to a niggling injury Lalit has been not able play with his full throttle off late. His patchy form had been expected to be temporary.
